Lifestyle Changes

lifestyle changesWe understand that attempting to carry out the entire list of suggestions below may feel like too much for you right now.  However, try to aim to include at least one of these changes every week and keep adding to them from our list so that by the end of 20 weeks, on top of incorporating our amazing antioxidants and minerals, you’ll be well on your way to having a truly healthy glow.

  1. Drink 2 litres of water daily.  You won’t believe the difference this can make to wonderful skin and clear eyes.
  2. Get rid of your weighing scales. See how clothes start to fit you rather than weigh yourself.
  3. Don’t eat red meat – only turkey, chicken, eggs and fish to provide the protein with your meals
  4. No sugar – apart from it being calorie laden there’s new scientific evidence to show that the way in which cells in your body recognize and use sugar may speed up the body's aging process and make your skin look older.
  5. No coffee.
  6. Dairy is a problem for the adult body. No butter. Swap cow’s milk for almond milk. As little cheese as you can manage.
  7. Swap white pasta for wholewheat pasta.  Swap white potatoes for Sweet Potatoes. Swap white flour for wholewheat flour in breads. Swap white rice for brown / red rice.
  8. Use a Dry Skin Brush and / or shower gloves daily.  No expensive exfoliators are needed if you do this.
  9. Use an inexpensive body cream after every  shower or bath.
  10. At least 4 times a week you must make your body sweat through exercise.  This releases toxins through your skin and offers an improved complexion.
  11. Start ordering less take-aways, which are awful for your complexion.  Start cooking from scratch.  Look up recipes that contain as many raw vegetables as possible.
  12. How do you get more energy? Strangely, the more exercise you do and the less you eat, the more energy you have. Your body becomes stronger and less sluggish when you stop overeating.
  13. A mug of hot water every morning (before any breakfast) and, only if you can, squeeze a lemon into this.
  14. Enough sleep – at least 8 hours most nights.  A well-rested body looks amazing.
  15. Have a healthy snack jar handy for when you feel hungry.  (Obviously you must throw out all unhealthy snacks from your home).  Soaked seeds, soaked nuts and dried fruit and fine to eat between meals.
  16. Only drink warm drinks up to half an hour after you’ve eaten – cold liquids inhibit the body’s digestion process
  17. Face massage – use an inexpensive carrier oil or even the olive oil in your kitchen.  This is an inexpensive way of getting the blood circulating around your face and promoting less wrinkles, lines and getting rid of an unhealthy pallor.
  18. Yoga – The right type of yoga, using excellent breathing techniques, does amazing things for your skin and muscle tone.
  19. Sun Protection – even if the day is cloudy you must use sun protection that protects from both UVA and UVB rays (check carefully on the label for this) - at least spf15.

Work with your body and don’t worry if some days you can’t manage, everyone falls down sometimes.  But remember that the goal is a long term one and incorporating healthy habits takes time, effort and patience.
